From This Years MCC President
The Missouri Christian Convention is on the move again. For 2003 we will assemble at the new convention center at Osage Beach, the beautiful resort called Lodge of the Four Seasons right on the Lake of the Ozarks. This marks the first time we have used this facility and is made possible because of the construction of a new convention exhibition center. I believe it will be a great match in that the location is in the center of the state, the facilities are first class, and the beauty of the area is a great attraction for families and seniors. We are hopeful that many of you will desire to stay in the Lodge on location and help us fund the cost of the facility by your stay on the premises. It actually is only $5.00 more than rooms last year in Springfield! Yet, our costs for the use of the facilities is much lower.
Our theme will be: "Fear Not... God is in Control", which is just as timely today as when I selected it just after 9-11 and the terrorist attacks. We still need to hear these words today with a sniper killing people back East and bombs rocking cities around the globe. Our two main speakers will present messages that will inspire and help is I am confident:
Mike Breaux, Senior Minister at Southland Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky will address the theme in two messages. He is leading this congregation to new levels with around 8,000 attending on weekends there. Mike spoke for our teens back several years ago.
Ken Idleman, President of Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri will also speak for us with his giftedness in turning a phrase. Ken has been at the college for over 25 years now. He is in demand across the nation as a speaker and conference leader. Ken has led several workshops in the past for us.
Won't you please plan now to join us on April 4 & 5 of 2003 at Lodge of the Four Seasons. You can make reservations today. Just call: 1-800-THE LAKE (843-5253) and mention the convention. Please have your church help us with a "Rapid Registration" gift. I'll look forward to seeing you next year.
Fear Not...
Doug Oakes
President for 2003
